Puerto Vallarta Restaurant was named after the city in Mexico in the state of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta is near the coast. The Ortega and Rivera family resided there. Both families moved to the United States in the early 1990's.
With hard work, in 1995 Puerto Vallarta Restaurant was founded in Idaho Falls, Idaho, by Ramiro Ortega. Throughout the years they began to expand their business. About every two years, a new restaurant was established. There are now a total of six restaurants; five in Idaho and the most recent one in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Puerto Vallarta opened its doors to the public on December 15, 2008. It is owned by Francisco and Karina Rivera. Both brother and sister have dedicated their time to bring a variety of foods that is suitable for many people. Any plate can be made vegetarian upon request.
After all the hard work, in March 2010, the Puerto Vallarta in Mishawaka has expanded its business at the same location, but with capacity for more people. Puerto Vallarta looks forward to expanding even more throughout the years, and also to continuing to please people from all areas.
